Disilgold: What can you tell the Disilgold community about yourself that will explain why Disilgold has sought you for a perSOULnalized interview?
Jessica: First I would like to thank you for the opportunity for this interview. My name is Jessica A. Robinson and I am the author of Holy Seduction which is my debut novel with Peace in the Storm Publishing.
Disilgold: What is your latest book about?
Jessica:My novel is about a scandalous preacher's wife who believes she can have her cake and eat it too. She's living a double life and doesnt care about anything or anyone until a deep dark secret comes along and has the capability to destroy her cozy life as she knows it.
Disilgold: How long did it take you to complete your book? Jessica:It took me about a year and a half to complete my book.
Disilgold: What were the happiest moments you have experienced while writing your latest book?
Jessica:My happiest moments have been seeing how my story which started as thought coming together. It feels so good to complete a project that I've started. That's the best feeling in the world.
Disilgold: Describe your writing style? Jessica:My writing style is relaxed. I write in a way where everyone will be able to glean from it and enjoy.
Disilgold: How did you develop your writing style? Jessica:After my father passed due to cancer, I began journaling as a form of therapy. My journal entries turned into short stories and the stories continued to evolve into full length pieces.
Disilgold: I'm sorry about your father Jessica. Do you have a favorite author of all time or someone who inspired you to achieve your goals as a writer?
Jessica:There are a couple of writers who inspire me from Karen E. Quinones Miller, Bebe Moore Campbell, Kendra Norman Bellamy, and Kimberla Lawson Roby.
Disilgold: Where do you see yourself as a writer ten years from now?
Jessica:I see my self being successful at my craft, having at least 8 novels out, a couple of non fiction titles as well.
Disilgold: What marketing tips can you provide to new authors?
Jessica:Don't be afraid to promote yourself. With anything there has to be balance, but you can still promote yourself and what's going on with you without offending anyone. It's all about networking. Networking is the key to your success.
Disilgold: What other projects are you working on?
Jessica: I'm working on my next novel, The Sins of my Mother which will hopefully release sometime in 2010. I'm also working on another book which I am co-authoring with three of my cousins.
Disilgold: What are your top ten favorite books right now?

Disilgold:When do you write and for how long?
Jessica:I love to wake up in the morning and write while ideas are fresh in my mind. When I sit down to write I try to write for at least an hour.
Disilgold: Do you have a favorite location for writing? Jessica:I love to write in my living room on my comfy, blue couch.
Disilgold: What method did you use to write or organize your book? Jessica:I jot down ideas on paper and i write scenes on paper and on note cards. I'm trying to get better at developing an outline my novels.
Disilgold:What three words best describe your writing style? Jessica:Unique, Drama-filled, Real
Disilgold: What other hobbies do you pursue when you aren't writing?
Jessica:I'm in Barnes and Noble buying another stack of books to read. (I'm an avid reader)
Disilgold: Are there any hidden jewels or talents that you possess that many of your readers may not know? Jessica:I'm in a national hip hop group named Carnival and we're releasing our new CD on july 28,2009 "Population of Invisible People". I rap and I'm the singer in the group.

Disilgold: We'll all do that. What have been some of your toughest obstacles as a writer?
Jessica: Trying to fight procrastination that i sometimes face when it's time to write.

Disilgold: What time do you awake normally every morning?
Jessica:6am.
Disilgold: What is your writing fuel in the morning?
Jessica:Fruit.
Disilgold: What early morning rituals have followed for many years?
Jessica:Wake up, shower, listen to some music then I write.
Disilgold: What are your favorite foods to snack on while writing?
Jessica:Almonds, pineapples, Wheat Thins.
Disilgold: Do you watch television or listen to the radio when you're writing, and if so, what do you watch or listen too mostly?
Jessica:I watch TV and I love watching reality shows while I write.
Disilgold: What is your favorite book of all time? The Miseducation of the Negro By Carter Woodson.
Disilgold: What is your favorite magazine of all time?
Jessica:Essence.
Disilgold: Do you have an exercise regimen to suggest for busy writers?
Jessica:Walking would be good if you're busy and it can also help your creative ideas to flow if you find yourself stuck.
Disilgold: What is your everyday outfit?
Jessica:Jeans and plain T-shirts with a fresh pair of Nikes or some boots.
Disilgold: What is your pet peeve?
Jessica:When people lie.
Disilgold: If you could inspire a child, what would you say?
Jessica:Never give up no matter what obstacle you face. Dreams do come true.
Disilgold: What is your favorite motto?
Jessica:"Live your life to the fullest and everyday like it is your last because you never know what life has in store for you."
Disilgold: What is your favorite time to put your writing pen down and rest?
In the evening usually around 10pm. Disilgold: Have you traveled anywhere besides your hometown and if so, where?
Atlanta, Nashville, Missouri, New York, Richmond, Va
Disilgold: Where is your dream vacation? Jessica:I would love to go to St. Tropez or Turks and Caicos.
Disilgold: What do you particularly like about the literary world today?
Jessica:I love the diversity that the literary world brings. There is room for everyone to be a success.
Disilgold: If you could leave one word of advice to people in general, what would it be?
Jessica:You may face opposition in your life and may feel like you want to stop because you feel it's too hard but dont give up. Don't let anyone or any circumstance to stop your dreams or goals because all things are possible.
